Hope: My Word for 2023

I’m not one to write down my New Years resolutions, but I do believe that the New Year brings an opportunity for a “fresh start” or “new goals”. For the past few years I have chosen a word instead of a resolution. The word that I choose is one that reminds me about what is most important. This year, I am choosing the word Hope.

I am choosing “Hope” because of a sermon I recently heard about Hope. The Pastor spoke about the Hope that children have on Christmas morning, that they will receive the gifts that they desire. He spoke about the Shepherds rushing to the manger after Jesus’ birth with the Hope of seeing our Savior. The Bible fills us with Hope that life is truly much deeper than we see here on earth.

We need to have Hope so that we can live a good and meaningful life. We need to have hope for the health of our family. Hope is what will help us get out of bed every morning to tackle each day. Hope is what I need this year.

Last year was one of my toughest in many years. I had medical issues, I lost a beloved horse, and I lost beautiful friends, but I was still blessed in so many ways that I don’t deserve. In my darkest hours I still had hope and I believe that is why God has continued to bless me and put people in my life, because I need them.

I will be grateful in 2023 for the blessings that surround me and give Hope to those who need it.

Happy New Year my friends, and may the HOPE that CHRIST can bring to your life always be with you!
